THE KITTENAIDE PROGRAM is operated by a local group of concerned
citizens who are making a difference in the lives of abandoned and homeless
felines.
This is not funded in any way. Monies needed to pay the medical expenses
are raised by holding yard and bake sales and by private donations.
An annual pasta dinner benefit is held each fall to help pay down the
yearly bill.
In less then five years, over 5000 kittens and cats plus 50 dogs have
been rescued, thanks to this program. These cats are placed into foster
care after being vet checked and receiving any medical attention required.
They are found in traps, on the streets, in the fields, in empty buildings
and even in garbage dumpsters.
Some are cats need to be relocated due to death, illness, allergies,
divorce, children, moving, and because people dont want the responsibility
of caring for a pet any longer. Calls go out to local veterinarians, pet
stores and papers on a slim chance that someone may be looking for their
lost kitty.
If the cats are least six months of age they are spayed or neutered,
vaccinated, fecal tested and if warranted dewormed and flea prevention
applied. Kittens are given their 1st vaccines and wormed. All are then
put up for adoption. |
